I know what you are, what is the price ...

Mike Rothman, as more often than not, is right on this morning, talking about the ridiculous awards from the Information Security Products Guide.  Like Mike, I saw all of these press releases about winning an award and thought what was up about that.  I then asked our PR folks why weren't we joining in the fun.  It seems that though we were in the InfoSec guide (for which we had to pay $750.00), we were not allowed to be nominated for certain categories as they were already bought!  Can you believe that?  For just a few dollars more, as Mike says, vendors chose the category they wanted to be in and others were shut out from being nominated for that category. We were not allowed to enter the NAC, Intrusion Prevention or Vulnerability Management categories, as these were all ready bought and paid for!  When our PR person said that didn't seem quite right, she was told not to worry, next year we can make up our own category.  What kind of BS is this.  Well I guess we know what the Info Security Products Guide is, and now we even know what their price is.  I have suggested to our PR people not to even pay the $750.00 for next year. These type of awards for hire, cheapens the hard work it takes to win "real" competitive awards and does nothing but confuse people trying to find the truth.  I guess you can't blame the "johns" who paid the money for their awards, there is a reason they call it the oldest profession in the world.

SHAME ON YOU INFO SECURITY PRODUCTS GUIDE!
