eEye to add web security, but will that be enough?

Catching up on my reading, I see that Kelly Jackson Higgins (who I saw at Black Hat) reports that eEye is going to add web application scanning to its product line.  I would assume as part of the Retina/REM family.  I think this is a natural for vulnerability scanners and we are going to see more of this from the likes of Qualys, nCircle, Tenable/Nessus and even StillSecure. Having one scanner for LAN type devices and software and another for web apps doesn't make sense.  Having one scanner that can do all of it is a no brainer. I am surprised it took this long to happen.

My question is this though, is this really going to happen at eEye?  The street is rife with rumors that the SoCal company is on the way out.  Rumors of lay offs and demotions of key engineers have been rampant.  As you know, Ross Brown's sudden departure a while back raised some eyebrows.  At Black Hat, eEye whose engineers are usually in full force there had an almost pathetic table set up as a booth, with the only signage a T-shirt from last year draped over the front and one lonely young lady manning the table.  I heard news of impending doom from multiple people while at the show.  I can't imagine them just closing the doors though.  My guess is we will see some sort of acquisition at a very "realistic" (read fire sale) price soon.  That is my prediction anyway.  Lets see what happens.
